Get the Buta Ramen. It's got a strong flavor. It really stands out. And I love that it has garlic in it. Not Buffy, I'm going to slay some vampires strong, but a nice balance with the onions, ground meat and broth. It's got some of that red ginger in it which I'm not a fan of but I going myself drinking a lot of the soup and had to stop myself. Get the Buta ramen. If you want a clean flavor try the others. The Katsu curry was ok but this place is a ramen place so order the ramen. The staff is friendly and attentive. I noticed there were parents who brought their kids in. Kids who need high chairs so I guess they're kid friendly.
We came here for lunch on a chilly Sunday afternoon when they first opened. It is small, cozy ramen place full of One Piece posters and figurines. We were seated right away as there was only one other group there. I got the chasyu ramen and my daughter got the spicy miso ramen. My husband who didn't like ramen had the tonkatsu. The broth was a bit salty but flavorful. The thin noodles were chewy. There were 4 pieces of fatty chasyu. It really warmed me up. My daughter's spicy miso ramen wasn't too spicy and had strong miso flavor. My husband enjoyed his tonkatsu. The staff was also accommodating when my daughter asked for no menma or corn.
This place is actually near my house. I usually order thru ubereats. I love ramen. I actually had a ramen spot myself in the city few years back. but long story short closed cuz of bad management. So yea, I really love ramen. Loved it so much i opened one just so I can eat it more often lol. Now back to this ramen place. I went in 1 time for dine in few weeks back. I was surprised that it was so dead because I think their ramen is actully pretty good. Not as good as the ones in the city. But for a local ramen spot near queens its def one of the better ones. for sure better than kyruramen. but for some reason its not as busy. mayb is because dont have as much option as kyru. but the place was nice n small. comfy. the waitress was nice. we talked a lil. she said their takeout is actually busy. but dinein was soso for some reason. If you guys like ramen like me or even if youre not a big fan like me still give it a try. I feel you will like it. I went with a non ramen fan. he said it was really good and tasty. good portion too. go support them if youre nearby. wont b disappointed
I love Tamashii for how late it opens and the vibes are always so chill. We ate in the Izakaya portion of the restaurant and I really appreciate all the one piece decor! They also serve late night food. We got the okonomiyaki, pork yaki udon, and beef nabe to share amongst 3 people. Everything was so good with good portions. I was extra hungry so I ordered karaage and it came out so fast! The staff is also super sweet and very attentive.
Rainy day means ramen day! I came at an odd time, late afternoon, but there were still a couple tables taken and a few takeout orders. They have a ramen side (ground floor) and an izakaya side (upstairs), though I've only been to the ramen side. They have a couple buckets for umbrellas, which is much appreciated because the floors get slippery when wet! The service was attentive and friendly. The Beef Onigiri was huge! It came with mayo and soy sauce on the side to dip, as well as pickled veggies. This helped cut the beefiness. I love how the beef was mixed in with the rice instead of just in the center. The Kara Miso Ramen was tasty. The noodles were bouncy. The broth has a bit of a kick but was not too spicy. Nicely topped with crisp veggies, very tender and flavorful chashu, and a jammy egg. I do wish the egg was a bit jammier but I do like it extra jammy! There is an 8% cash discount, so remember to bring cash. A decent ramen spot to check out if you're in the area. I would like to try out the Izakaya side of the restaurant!.
Arrived 6:10 on a weekday evening and scored the final table. Immediately after that, the crowds started to pour in and they all had to wait. Small narrow first floor setting. Diners were praising the ramen I hear from other tables. Ordered potato croquette. The croquette was made with precision flavors. Tasted the freshness, outer fried layer was also very golden. Being familiar with ramen with experience in having eaten in Japan, this is NOT on the same level. However this is a 5-star review because of its solid consistency, as shown by how the crowds were willing to wait outside. For me the star dish was the fried tofu. Friedness level was good and interior quality of the tofu was also decent but it was ultimately the sauce that it was drowned in! That was made with very well-thought out flavors. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Portions were large. Areas were clean and tidy. Ambience was cute with manga decor. Overall, this makes a great spot for smaller groups. Upstairs also looked very happening with those skewer options. Will try next time.
This place upstairs was a lot fun and great yakitori! I had a real experience eating here. The takoyaki balls were not deep fried but made in the griddle mold. The yakatori sticks were delicious. We knew what we wanted so it wasn't a problem. I am an organs gal so I went for liver, heart and pork belly. They had peppers too. The edamame was grilled which was new to me. The drink menu is huge so please drink up!
I didn't realize that there were two DIFFERENT restaurants in the same building. Their decor is also pretty similar with all the One Piece "WANTED" poster.. don't be like me and if you're meeting people for ramen IT'S ON THE GROUND FLOOR. Izakaya (I was sitting up there reading their menu for a bit lol) has yakitori and Japanese hot pot, their menu is completely different. I came here with my fam and kiddo on a Friday night. We were able to get a table no problem and there were two different servers manning the restaurant. They were so friendly with our toddler, allowed us to walk around with her so she wouldn't get fussy during our meal, and were just fantastic. The ramen wasn't the best I've ever had BUT for the price per bowl it's definitely worth it. We also got a couple of apps which were delicious as well. The best one we ordered, hands down, had to be the agedashi tofu. Usually at other restaurants I'd get a couple small square blocks of fried tofu and some sauce. Here, you get a bunch of bonito flakes that added that extra umami flavor, scallions, and pickled radish. Delish! We were surprised with mochi ice cream on the house at the end of the meal and if that wasn't a sweet enough deal, if you pay with cash you have an 8% discount. It was definitely one of my family cheaper dinner nights out and we'll be back again!
Pardon the pun but Tamashii's ramen is GOLD. I came here for a late lunch/early dinner with my family and was surprised to see that they had a lunch special deal on M-Sat from 12-4PM. While the deal only saves you $1-3 on each dish, it's still nice to save money. The menu is quite hefty and has a variety of ramen, donburi, and izakaya options. The prices were all great for all the dishes and quality of the food we received. I ordered the Shoyu ramen which came with chasu, menma, and half of a marinated egg. The broth was rich and luxurious, the noodles a perfectly bouncy and chewy texture. Eating this bowl of ramen truly felt like a blessing on this frigid day when the weather forecast tricks you into thinking it won't be that cold but the wind chill proves otherwise. I will say that I finished the portion here does seem smaller than other places where they charge more per bowl, but I still think the pricing is fair. The interior design evoked traditional ramen shop/izakaya vibes and made the meal feel more hearty. Service is very minimal but we were not bothered by it since the food was so delicious. Looking forward to slurping many more bowls of ramen here.
